It was in 1997 that Alfred-Alexandre Bonnie, a 57 years old Belgian businessman, finally discovered the vineyard he had been looking for in all the terroirs of France for almost two years : Château Malartic-Lagravière. And since it is a proven fact that behind every great man is a great woman, his wife, Michèle, soon joined in his passion for the vast renovation plans for the estate and lent all her support to the new venture. The new owners immediately formed a team of experts. Since 1997, alongside their teams, the highest level of expertise is applied at every stage of the production process. This intense involvement has become a state of mind, and represents their philosophy. The approach was established very early on, with the use of the best possible techniques in the vineyard and the cellar, so as to be able to do justice to the magnificent gravel terroir!
Vintage after vintage, this meticulous care at a fundamental level for two decades is now bearing fruit.
Benoît Prévoteau was made Vineyard Manager and Philippe Garcia, Cellar Master.
Jean-Jacques Bonnie joins the team on the beginning of 2003 as General Manager. His wife Séverine is charged of the marketing and communication. In 2006, the eldest daughter Véronique took the financial & administration part in charge and his husband Bruno, the argentine commercial part from 2010. Véronique and Jean-Jacques are co-owners since 2013.
Michel Rolland was chosen as consultant oenologist and assists the new team since the beginning to make wines which would be powerful and complex, fine and elegant.
With intra-plot management and advanced environmental initiatives, vintage after vintage, they have contributed to raising Château Malartic-Lagravière to the level of excellence to which it strives, with a style of management so precise that it could be described as “haute couture wine”.
