The origins of Château Haut-Bergey, date back to the 15thCentury.
Today, the vineyard is comprised of 40 hectares, located in the heart of Léognan, center of the Graves and Pessac Léognan Appellations.
In 1991, Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard and her husband Gaston took over the domain to modernize it and develop the business.
20 years later, their son Paul Garcin, helped by his team (Anne-Laurence de Gramont, Director of Culture and François Prouteau, the winemaker), creates a wine that exactly matches his artistic sensibility with an organic and biodynamic farming.
The Domain is on extremely complex soil that enables the production of great wines – red, white or rosé. Chateau Haut-Bergey’s red wine comes from 37 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, cabernet franc, petit verdot and malbec. Two hectares of white Sauvignon and Sémillon are dedicated to the production of the White Chateau Haut-Bergey, an exceptional white wine. One hectare is kept aside to produce the rosé, which rises above the usual standards set by Bordeaux.
The nobleness of our domain is the result of our environmental policy and of the respect of our soils, our vineyard and our dedicated employees. Each wine that we produce is the pure expression of our expertise, our devotion and our passion.
