The vineyard, located on the commune of Martillac, was created in the XVIIth century on a deep, well-drained and remarkably exposed grave.
In 2004, for Brigitte and José Rodrigues-Lalande, it was a question of “diversifying into the top of the range”, in the commune of Martillac in the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation.Making great red and white wines revealing At best the terroir.
Formerly the castles and the mansions prevailed on the cellars, long considered as simple production buildings strictly functional and without real architectural ambition.
It is then that this property will take on its full meaning. This cellar is a jewel of technology, which is part of an eco-responsible movement.
The resulting architecture is inspired directly from the terroir.
Indeed, the geometric facade consists of pebbles, grave, like the soil that gave its name to our illustrious wine-growing region: Les Graves.
Reinterpretation of the stone construction, this cellar plays codes to emerge straight from the vine.
Today, this winery is part of the “Architectures et Paysages” collection, co-published by CAUE de la Gironde.
A beautiful homage to this land and to the men who trampled it.
